Mario's Galactic Adventure Trailer Arrives, Revealing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Actors
The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination released the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. It was showcased in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that centered on the forthcoming animated feature.
The follow-up to the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will send Mario to the distant reaches of the galaxy. Along the way, he discovers a fresh princess character and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
A Cosmic Adventure Based on Iconic Releases
Much like the Wii-era games that provide its foundation, Mario will venture away from the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. Throughout his extensive trek, he will reunite with some familiar faces, including the Luma, a fan favorite from the previous film.
But it appears Mario and his sibling Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who reportedly commands metallic abilities. Worth mentioning, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also contains hints to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Returns and Expands
The feature will see the return of the primary vocal talent, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
A Big Year for Mario
The upcoming Mario film is set to release around the time of the 40-year celebration of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. Beyond the film, 2026 looks set to be a significant year for Mario and his companions.
The company has three new games publicly declared for the upcoming year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Premiere Date Announced
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
