Exploring a Unique Steam Demo: Playing as a Poop with the Goal to Arrive at the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is now live, and gamers have discovered numerous interesting creations from small studios. Yet, one stands out for its offbeat concept. Called Unko Technica, this retro-inspired jumping adventure lets you play a hero that is truly a turd trying to travel to a toilet. For those curious, "Unko" translates to "poop."
How you interact is easy to grasp: just use a single jump button. Throughout numerous stages, you'll face mini-bosses and unlock a shop to purchase skins for your dung hero.
Time your jumps precisely, as a wrong move means beginning again. Jump using air pockets to hurl your character higher, navigate fragile ledges, and activate buttons to reveal hidden paths. Collect currency for buying challenging game content in which the action gets crazy.
In terms of design, the experience shows off vibrant environments and an amazing music score. The simple graphics of shifting geometric shapes could recall players of classic titles like Earthbound.
While it's hard to name similar titles where you play as a dung character, video games often featured scatological themes. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, players make grenades from character waste. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use manure as plant food. And of course, fecal references is present heavily in the role-playing game The Stick of Truth.
Putting aside its silly concept, Unko Technica has already garnered notable accolades, including being named best at a major publisher's indie contest in 2023. The demo is ready at present on Steam, with the full game scheduled to launch on Steam on November 19.
