AC Shadows Reveals Bizarre Attack on Titan Event for Holiday Season

In a surprising collaboration that breaks traditional predictions, the game developer has unveiled an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, providing no-cost extra story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Questline Disclosed

According to the formal release, "A mysterious confrontation draws characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh quest, where whispers of banned ceremonies and terrifying metamorphoses echo through the darkness." The storyline features a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with venturing into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her companion from a clandestine sect.

The adventure centers on "peculiar experiments and a terrifying adversary" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Iconic Settings and Transformations

The preview features the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This important location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The trailer concludes with a striking scene showing a character, probably the captive, changing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Rewards and Additional Features

Players who finish the quest will obtain an exclusive katana alongside multiple objects hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also includes purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, including:

  • Titan-inspired costume for Yasuke
  • Mikasa costume for Naoe
  • Unique implements
  • Survey Corps vehicle

Third Free Story Update

This update also adds the game's latest free story addition, titled "A Puzzlement." This humorous quest partners Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic techniques: Naoe debuts a performative variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

Past Japanese Animation Collaborations

This signifies hardly the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with popular anime series. The series previously featured a 2020 cross-promotional story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla informally contained a quest that obviously nodded to the popular series One-Punch Man.
